really need backsplash

So we really need a backsplash..

behind the cooktop where the paint (which was gorgeous blue) is slowly getting grease splotchy

and (he says) at last a couple inches at the bottom of the coffee bar wall ( to the right front of the kitchen)

and (I think) under the kitchen window (where I splash when washing dishes)

but I don’t want boring & conservative!
but I’m married to an engineer.

you see the dilemma…
